North Coast Repertory Theater

North Coast Repertory Theater will open its 36th season this coming September. They will feature Neil Simon’s “Last of the Red Hot Lovers,” a seductive and hilarious musical play about the sexual revolution of middle-aged individuals who are unlucky in love.

Following the comedy is an adaptation from John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men.” This will truly capture the audience of 2017 as it depicts the Depression-era friendship and the Great American Dream.

Looking forward to the winter season, the theater will have “Dickens Unscripted” and the “Sisters Christmas Catechism.”

North Coast Theater will open 2018 with “Around the World in 80 Days” featuring five actors portraying 42 characters. It will also feature “How the Other Half Loves” and “The Father” until June 2018.

The theater will truly be filled with different acts and shows until early 2018. You shouldn’t miss these great performances at the North Coast Theater.

The Old Globe Theater

The Old Globe is San Diego’s resident Shakespeare’s Theater. The Old Globe will be running a four-play summer season on the Balboa Park Outdoor Theater.

The season will open on June 11 with Bard’s “Richard II.” This will be followed by “Guys and Dolls,” a classic musical set in 20th century New York.

Another feature is “Robin Hood,” the historical legend known for stealing from the rich to give to the poor.

They are set to end the season with the legendary “Hamlet,” a Shakespearean tragedy.

Cygnet Theater

“Animal Crackers” will open this season for the Cygnet Theater. Tagged as the theater version of beach reading.

It will be followed by a drama, “The Effects of Gamma-Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds,” throughout the month of September.

Cygnet will present its own adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” in time for the holiday season.

The show continues into 2018 with a lineup of plays including “The Last Wife” and Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music.”

San Diego Opera

The San Diego Opera will open the 2017-2018 season with “Pirates of Penzance,” an adaptation reminiscent of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. It will also feature “Maria de Buenos Aires” and “Florencia en el Amazonas.”

Most of the San Diego Theater and Opera houses will be filled with diverse performances throughout the year. Take your pick and enjoy the show throughout 2017 and into 2018.
